TN Legislature Hootenanny
So between passing bills designed to circumvent anti-discrimination ordinances, reminding women that the law has more authority over their bodies than they do, introducing the "sky daddy theory" into science classes, and teaching young students that the best way to deal with people that are different is to pretend that they don't exist, it's easy to wonder if there's moonshine circulating about Tennessee's legislative body.

"Bad" Word
I made this as a design for a poster show organized by Memphis Loves Gays. It's in response to the news about Senate Bill 49, or the "Don't Say Gay" bill. If passed, it would prohibit teachers in the state of TN from discussing any other sexual orientation other than heterosexuality to elementary and middle school students. Besides being an obvious attack on the LGBT community, it's yet another attempt by political conservatives in TN to keep the public school curriculum unbalanced in their favor.

Downtown INK-OFF!
This past Tuesday saw me downtown in a heated inking duel with John. It was part of Live from Memphis' downtown series of lunchtime events in Court Square during the months of May and June. The rules of the "ink-off" were simple. Both John and I had an hour to draw on our respective halves of a huge panel. The audience then decided the winner by round of applause. Check out LFM's awesome post on the event.

Zoo Doodles/ Daily Gouache Catch-up
I was busier than usual this week, so it I had to put the Daily Gouache project on pause for a second- My apologies to anyone that may have been following it. That said, I went to the zoo a few days ago with fellow inkslinger John Lee and made a ton of drawings to catch up for lost time.
